Coromandel Pashmina shawls are handwoven and dyed by families of weavers from the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal. This special wool comes from the underside of the high Himalayan mountain goat, where it is protected from the harsh elements to become the softest and warmest of natural fibers. It is hand gathered with a special comb. Each goat produces 3-8 ounces of wool annually. The Pashmina, as this extra fine hair is called, is handwoven on a silk warp which adds to its luxurious and durable quality.
